The most tragic thing for a nation is to have no memory.

                            –Peng Wang, artist

(We were watching a documentary today on China’s one child policy and one of the people interviewed said this, a sentiment with which I quite concur. It occurred to me this is alwayswhat communism did as soon as it came to power: destroyed your thinkers, intellectuals, artists – your keepers of collective memory. They did so for the same reason that Daesh destroys polytheistic temples and religious items: so that for the generation that follows there will be no clue that things were ever different than what the party says it is and has been. It’s obscene, and this is what way too many in our communities and in our country today want to embrace. Maybe read a little history and reconsider).

  1. I’m skeptical that people in our communities want to destroy history. The closest that I can imagine is the bringing down of Columbus, Confederate, and/or slaveowner statues. Even then, no one is saying we should forget these histories. Only that we shouldn’t glorify these vile people. That the statues belong more in a museum than in places of honor. I agree with the idea that people like Columbus should not be honored.

As such, I think it’s disingenuous to compare people that want to destroy the glorifications of evil….to Daesh.

As far as Communism, it can be destructive. Especially in its authoritarian (tankie) forms. It is destructive towards traditions and religion I think this is horrible and should be opposed but I don’t see any actual threat of Communism in our country.

Speaking as someone on the Left (the actual Left, not liberals), tankies are a minority on the Left and most of us can’t stand those folks. Especially the religious types like me.

    • We see it all the time by the refusal within the NT/Heathen communities to acknowledge that folks showed piety to their Gods. So many are so willfully adamant and obtuse, they refuse to contemplate that prostration happened.

You can look at America as a whole, and how common is the white washed myth of Thanksgiving spread?

There’s actually an effort by some politicians to try to make it more difficult for folks to reach university level education, because the thinkers tend not to vote for their party.

Everything is about power, and control. And when you control the narrative, you can use it to raise your interests and appointed leaders into power.

The entire Trump presidency can be seen as this crazy narrative and some people just believe Trump fanatically. Meanwhile we drown out the voices of our medical professionals, and scientists, and we’re left with legislation against women’s health issues that defy medical logic.

      • and likewise the rise of Antifa and the radical left, voting into office of people like AOC, the push back against free speech, the slander against anyone who won’t pull the “progressive” party line. it’s flip side of the same coin. Way toomany people today actually think socialism and communism are good things. I very much wish they could live for a time under such a system to see what it’s really like. idiots. the whole lot of them as far as i ‘m concerned.

    • When you have huge swaths of people trying to white wash the effects of marxism and communism, presenting it as something good, excusing the atrocities committed every single time you have a communist government, when you have antifa as it i now and people supporting that in our communities yes, I believe that we do have a hell of a lot of those wanting to destroy history.
