A Massachussetts School Bans the “Odyssey”

The woke brigade strikes again. To preserve their precious feelings and further indoctrinate children with their utter lack of values and virtue, a group #distrupttexts has successfully gotten one of the cornerstones of Western literature banned from a school in MA. Read the full story here

I read an article earlier about this and “teachers” were proud of this ban. Personally, it would be better if they closed the school, and any teacher that advocates for banning books isn’t fit to teach. They’re so eager to virtue signal their “wokeness” *gags* that they are denying this generation’s children a proper education. Homer’s “Iliad” and “Odyssey” are core texts for understanding pretty much all of the literature that came after it. I suppose these woke “teachers” don’t want to have to be bothered to explain different values and customs or, you know, do their jobs and teach.

I suppose stories about heroism, cleverness, virtue, and fidelity (especially in women) are difficult to teach when the people teaching it have none of those qualities. Those pushing this ban referred to the “Odyssey” as “trash.” I have yet to see their accomplishments, other than denying the children placed in their care a proper education.

Personally, if you haven’t read the “Odyssey” and the “Iliad” by the time you graduate high school, you’re not ready for college. I only lament that high schoolers aren’t reading them in the original Greek these days.

The only way these days to guarantee that your children are getting a decent education, one that will render them thinking, literate, historically aware adults is to homeschool. This trend toward banning the best books of world literature, of classic literature is a perfect example of where public education is going. Object to this, parents. Object strongly and never, ever apologize for challenging this censorship. Your children deserve at least that.

You can pry the runes from my cold, dead fingers

So…Sweden is considering a ban on the runes and other Heathen symbols. Wildhunt to date doesn’t seem to have covered this– no surprise there. What Heathen groups I have seen touching on it have been excusing it. I haven’t seen medievalists up in arms about it either. Are you people out of your fucking minds?

What is next? Banning Heathenry? That is the logical conclusion to a globalist program that considers any expression of indigenous religious culture a hate crime.

The reasons this is being considered are, of course, supposedly to prevent white supremacist groups from using these symbols. I don’t, however, see any proposed ban of the cross or the crescent. In the end, it doesn’t matter WHY this is being considered. If you give an inch to a tyrant, they will take a mile. We should be up in arms about this. In fact, every devout community, Pagan, Polytheist, Heathen, or otherwise should be up in arms over this religious discrimination. Where will it be focused next?

Let’s look at exactly what Sweden is proposing to ban. It’s quite interesting.

Their choices do not seem accidental.

TWH, Pussy “Church” nonsense, and Tradition

I’m keeping this short because I have a headache (had way too much fun today – hung out with friends for hours in an impromptu polytheist salon ^_^). Anyway, I’ve already noted that I abhor the censorship inherent in TWH’s decision to remove and apologize for a recent article. News isn’t meant to be comfortable or uncomfortable, it’s meant to convey information in as neutral a manner as possible. That’s apparently too much for people in our community (like MadGastronomer, who found the original post lacking but was incapable of clearly detailing howit was so. Oooh it doesn’t adhere to my opinions and feelings so it must be baaaad. Yeah, not how journalism works, sweetheart). That I’ve already commented on here and on fb. What bothers me even more is a thread that I’ve seen in our communities for quite a while now, the idea that every tradition must be inclusive of everyone, that traditions should have no borders, no standards.

This, more than anything else, explains what is so wrong in our communities. ALL traditions have boundaries. What’s more, traditions have a right to set whatever boundaries they wish. If one disagrees with a particular boundary then find another tradition. In addition to the censorship here, this is what pisses me off. I find the “pussy church” utterly ridiculous and theologically lacking but I don’t have to join them. My tradition has firm boundaries and I’m thankful for it. any tradition worth its salt does. Why is this so threatening to other people? Outsiders have zero right to demand entrance into any tradition.

Everyone who is disappointed by this  move on the part of The Wild Hunt, should remember it the next time TWH is doing a funding drive. Many of their ads say that Polytheists and Pagans won’t find unbiased news in other media outlets. Well, we’re not getting it here either.
